Obituary for Mr. Fredrick Morice Sykes

Spartanburg, SC - The Management and Staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Sykes, and connected families to announce the transition of Mr. Fredrick Sykes, 49, who passed away on Monday, February 06, 2023, at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC

The pages of Life began to turn for Mr. Fredrick Morice Sykes, 49, of Spartanburg, SC, when he was born in Wayne County, NC, on September 24, 1973, to the late Betty Jean Sykes and Shelton Worrell. On February 6, 2023, Fredrick answered the Master’s Call and departed this earthly life into eternal rest.

Fredrick was a 1992 graduate of Goldsboro High School; he furthered his education at Wayne Community College, becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. Fredrick was employed for many years with The Charles Lea Center; he enjoyed football and basketball; two of his favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the North Carolina Tar Heels. Fredrick was a member of Wave of Glory Faith Ministries of Goldsboro, NC, under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Uzzell and would often fellowship at Holy Ghost Cathedral along with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Sykes, and a daughter Jaqushia Leonard.

Fredrick leaves to cherish beautiful memories with his wife, Natasha Leonard Sykes, of the home; four children: Late Jaqushia Leonard Sykes, Shakara Sykes, Alazette Davis, and Shamar Sykes. Maternal grandparents: Ester Drake; Paternal grandmother: Edna Gooding, mother in law: Joyce Leonard, his father: Shelton Worrells; his brothers: Joey Applewhite (Malena) of Virginia; Lewis Sampson(Tennillia) of Hinesville, Georgia; sisters: Debra Harvey (Vernon) of Dudley, NC; and Tokovia Sampson of Fayetteville, NC; as well as a host aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and special friends.
